Sea and air corridors into the UK

Passages

A passage is a narrow place cargo must use. If it clogs, ships go the long way, or urgent goods go by air. Time and cost move.

Strait of Hormuz — the Gulf energy gate.

Suez and the Red Sea — the short road from Asia. Open, still thin.

Cape of Good Hope — the long road. Default for many Asia–UK boxes.

Gibraltar and the Channel — the last sea gates before UK ports.

Black Sea — grain, oilseeds and some fuel.
